Hasbro’s Star Wars Line is Looking Great Again…

Back before I collected Transformers, I collected Star Wars.  My primary love was the Micromachines line but I had a fair number of the regular Power of the force figures.  Sure they looked like body builders but they were pretty cool on the fact that they were Star Wars alone.

The figures today are much better in thier likenessess but for the past several years Hasbro has been pumping out the same 30 or so figures in various “assortments” and repackages.  There hasn’t been anything truly good or new in ages. There’s a flod of new information comming out with the current “Celebration IV” going on.  A lot of it looks pretty good and star Wars may make a bit of a jump back up into my quikcly thinning “lines I care about” list.

Some highlights I’m looking forward to…

Droids Cartoon Boba Fett, McQuarrie Vader, and RotJ Luke… – Fett is always cool.  I’m relly digging the other two McQuarrie conecpt design figures I’ve gotten and I really like “Black Suit Luke” as a placeholder for my “primary version”  unforunately my most uptodate Black Suit Luke is a pretty dated model with a poor sculpt and less articulation.  This modern version may be something they’ve released before but I’ll be picking it up anyway.  As for McQuarrie Vader.  Like I said, these concept figures are great but they’ve started making many of them exclusives to conventions and online and generally places where I’ll never be able to obtain them.  Kind of sucks since I’d have gone for R2, 3PO, Yoda, and Obi-Wan.

Speaking of exclusive concept figures, this version of Grevious looks better than any version fo the actual character we’ve gotten.  Maybe they should revamp the main line figure since it sucks. Fortunately I can shop on Hasbro’s online website.

Back to the main line, this Jedi Mon Calamari is dorky enought to warrant interest as is that Yoda? variant.

On the subject of  “Dorky Cool” I’m a sucker for Pink recolors of anything as well as Astromechs.  It’s too bad a young girl had to die to make that toy possible.

The onlything I’m more of a sucker for than Astromechs is Trooper variants.   Those two battle packs in the first link aredefinitely something I’ll be picking up.  Heck if finances are looking good I may have to try for a couple of each.  The Power Ranger Clones in the secont link are pretty cool as well but I actually kind of dislike the Ep2 Clone design.

Then there is always this Mara Jade figure (far left).  Sure it comes with a crappy Luke variant but thesecomic packs are still worth it.

Finally there is the rather oddball “Vintage Figure” line.  I actually don’t understand the point of this line other than releasing figures in 70s/80s style packaging.  They look nothing like thier old counterparts (better thankfully).  TheyDO tend to be better quality than thier main line counterparts.  Still, I can get intot he idea of super poseable highly detailed IG-88, Bosk, Snowtrooper, and Empire Luke figures.
